This is a community of historical homes and buildings that dates to the early 1800's. After the Civil War the town became a resort for the wealthy Chicago families who began construction of the mansions on the lake, and Lake Geneva became the Newport (RI) of the West. The construction of the mansions, as well as household employment, offered job opportunities to the residents, adding to the milling, furniture, wagon and typewriter manufacturing enterprises.
Lake Geneva residents enjoy living in a pleasant, friendly small-town atmosphere and always welcome visitors and guests to participate in an array of activities and attractions that encompass its hub, Geneva Lake.
